Fettig, this program highlights how three titans of classical music tell the stories of other larger-than-life characters within our world, from kings to philosophers to heroes. The power of music is on full display with George Frederic Handel’s vivid soundtrack to a monarch’s monumental 18th century fireworks display, Leonard Bernstein’s creative depiction of a meeting between some of the greatest minds in history, and the unmatched symphonist Mahler’s first spectacular foray into the genre that would cement his musical legacy for all time. The concert is free and no tickets are required.
