On Jan. 1, 2020, at Marine Barracks Washington, D.C., the Marine Band performed the "Surprise Serenade" for the 38th Commandant of the Marine Corps General David H. Berger. A tradition that dates back to the mid-1800s, the ensemble performed The Marines’ Hymn, “Bless this House,” and “Semper Fidelis.” Following the serenade, the band was invited into the Home of the Commandants for a tour.
