Marine Chamber Orchestra: Summer Series - Saturday, Aug. 17 at 7:30 p.m.- Conducted by Assistant Director Capt. Bryan P. Sherlock, the Marine Chamber Orchestra will conclude its 2019 Summer Series with some lesser-known works, including Josef Suk’s Serenade in E-flat, Opus 6; Elliott Carter’s Elegy; and Jack Jarrett’s Romeo and Juliet. The concert will also include André Jolivet’s Bassoon Concerto, featuring soloist Staff Sgt. David Young. There will be no pre-concert ensemble performance prior to this concert. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will take place at Schlesinger Concert Hall at Northern Virginia Community College in Alexandria.

Coordinated by violinist Staff Sgt. Chaerim Smith, the concert features several ensembles from “The President’s Own,” including a cello and piano duet, string quartets, and a clarinet and harp duo. The concert will take place at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 14, in John Philip Sousa Band Hall at the Marine Barracks Annex in southeast Washington, DC.
