Chamber Music Series: March 27, 2020 - This Sunday the 2022 Chamber Series will continue at 2 p.m. (ET) with a performance highlighting harp, brass quartet, clarinet with strings, and percussion quartet on works by Maurice Ravel, Paul Hindemith, and American and English composers. Coordinated by Clarinetist Staff Sgt. Samuel Ross, the concert will take place in John Philip Sousa Band Hall at the Marine Barracks Annex in southeast Washington, D.C., and stream live online.

This concert takes stock of the challenges of the last two years and serves as a celebration of the arts and live music. Appropriately beginning with legendary American composer Adolphus Hailstork’s opener entitled “Celebration!,” the program continues with a world première of a new piece by celebrated composer and violist Jessica Meyer, written especially for the Marine Band and this occasion. Postcard/Graphic: This Sunday the Marine Band will perform a concert titled “Songs from Around the World." - Postcard/Graphic: This Sunday the Marine Band will perform a concert titled “Songs from Around the World,” featuring melodies from Brazil, China, England, Italy, Mexico, Russia, Spain, and the United States. Conducted by 1st Lt. Darren Y. Lin, this performance will demonstrate the universal language of music and its unique way to bring people together and function as a bridge between cultures. The free, non-ticketed event will take place at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 20 at the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts in Maryland.

Marine Chamber Orchestra: Unlikely Pairings - This Sunday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m., “The President’s Own” Marine Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Maj. Ryan J. Nowlin, will feature the unlikely pairing of violin and cello in Johannes Brahms’ final work for orchestra, as well as another unlikely pairing: the music of Joseph Haydn juxtaposed with the much more contemporary music of Anna Clyne who drew inspiration from Haydn’s Symphony No. 60.
