Staff Sgt. Michael Rogers

Percussionist Staff Sgt. Michael Rogers of Arlington, Texas, joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in June 2025.

Rogers began his musical training on percussion at age 11 and graduated from Martin High School in Arlington, Texas, in 2017. He attended the University of North Texas in Denton and earned a bachelor’s degree in music education in 2022. Rogers studied with Paul Rennick, Mark Ford and Christopher Deane at UNT as well as Will Hudgins, Matthew McKay, Daniel Bauch and Matthew Strauss.

Prior to joining “The President’s Own,” Rogers performed with the Houston Symphony, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and Kansas City Symphony. He was a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps from 2018-21 when they won the Drum Corps International World Championship in 2018 and the Fred Sanford Award for Best Percussion Performance in 2018 and 2019. He also participated in the Round Top Festival Institute in 2023, the Tanglewood Music Festival in 2024 and the Spoleto Festival Orchestra in 2025.

Rogers performs with the Marine Band and Marine Chamber Orchestra at the White House in the Washington metropolitan area and across the country during the band’s National Concert Tour.
