Oboe and English Horn Player Staff Sergeant Belinda Rosen of Belle Harbor, N.Y., joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in April 2025.
Rosen began her training on piano at age 4, clarinet at age 9 and oboe at age 12. After graduating from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School for Music & Art and the Performing Arts in New York City in 2012, she earned a bachelor’s degree in oboe performance from the University of Michigan, a master’s degree in oboe performance from Rice University in 2020, and a performance studies certificate from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2021. Her teachers include Eugene Izotov, Principal oboist of the San Francisco Symphony and Professor of Oboe at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music; Robert Atherholt, former Principal Oboist of the Houston Symphony and Professor of Oboe at Rice University; and Nancy Ambrose King, Professor of Oboe at the University of Michigan.
Prior to joining the Marine Band, Rosen performed with several ensembles, including the San Francisco Symphony, Houston Symphony, National Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic and the Sun Valley Music Festival, among others. She was the oboe instructor at the Eisman Center for Preparatory Studies in Music at Queens College and was on faculty as the oboe instructor and chamber music coach at the 92nd St. Y. Rosen was also formerly acting principal of the San Antonio Philharmonic from 2024-2025.
Rosen performs with the Marine Band and Marine Chamber Orchestra at the White House, in the Washington, D.C., area, and across the country during the band’s National Concert Tour. In her role, Rosen supports the Marine Band’s mission of performing music for the President of the United States and the Commandant of the Marine Corps.
