Cellist Staff Sgt. Atticus Mellor-Goldman of Los Angeles, California, joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Chamber Orchestra in February 2025.
Mellor-Goldman began his musical training on cello at age 7. After graduating from Los Angeles County High School for the Arts in California, he attended Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in cello performance in 2019. In 2021, he earned a master’s degree in cello performance from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. His main instructors include Julie Albers, Hans Jensen and Richard Aaron from Mercer University’s McDuffie Center for Strings and Ole Akahoshi and Paul Watkins from Yale.
Prior to joining “The President’s Own,” Mellor-Goldman was a cellist with the Air Force Strings from 2021-25.
Mellor-Goldman performs with the Marine Chamber Orchestra at the White House and in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. He serves as an assistant supply representative within the Marine Band.
