Operations Specialist Staff Sergeant Jens Peaslee of Littleton, CO. joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in February of 2025.
Staff Sgt Peaslee graduated from Arapahoe High School in 2014 before attending Colorado State University where he earned bachelor’s degrees in music performance and economics in 2019. His teachers included: Dr. Rebecca Phillips, Director of Bands at Colorado State University, Dr. Richard Frey, Former Assistant Director of Bands at Colroado State University, Dr. Chris Van Hof former Professor of Trombone and Euphonium at Colorado State University, and Stephen Dombrowski, principal tuba of the Colorado Symphony. Upon graduation, Staff Sgt Peaslee enlisted in the Marine Corps and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego.
Upon completion of Marine Combat Training, he was assigned to the 1st Marine Division Band aboard Camp Pendleton, CA. where he served as a euphonium instrumentalist, Fire Team Leader, Squad Leader, Section Leader, Defense Travel Systems Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Embarkation Chief, and Administrative Chief. During his tour, Staff Sgt Peaslee earned two meritorious promotions to the ranks of Corporal and Sergeant.
In July of 2023, Staff Sgt Peaslee received orders to the III Marine Expeditionary Force Band in Okinawa, Japan where he served as an instrumentalist, Squad Leader, Embarkation Chief, Operations Chief, Brass Quintet Ensemble Leader, and Assistant Drum Major. In June of 2024, Staff Sgt Peaslee was selected for promotion to his current rank.
As an Operations Specialist, Staff Sgt. Peaslee is responsible for the daily scheduling and logistics of the Marine Band and Marine Chamber Orchestra.”
