Staff Sgt. Joshua Tuttle

Saxophonist Staff Sergeant Joshua Tuttle of Florence, S.C., joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in August 2024.

Staff Sgt. Tuttle began his musical instruction on saxophone at age 12 and graduated in 2016 from South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville, S.C. He then attended University of South Carolina, where he earned his bachelor’s in music education in 2020. He then went on to complete his masters in saxophone performance at Bowling Green State University in 2022 before beginning his doctorate at University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He has studied with Clifford Leaman at University of South Carolina, John Sampen at Bowling Green State University and James Bunte at University of Cincinnati.

Prior to joining the band, Staff Sgt. Tuttle was the director of the CCM Prep Saxophone Ensemble and taught private lessons for the Detroit Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Staff Sgt. Tuttle performs with the Marine Band at the White House, in the Washington, D.C. area, and across the country during the band’s annual concert tour.
