Stage Crewman Private First Class Christopher Abbott of Clarksville, Ind., joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in June 2023.

Pfc. Abbot was a trumpet player as a middle school and high school student. In 2019, Pfc. Abbott graduated from Clarksville High School and attended Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Ky. and Trident University in Cypress, Calif. before enlisting in the Marine Corps in August 2021. He then attended recruit training at Parris Island Marine Corps Recruit Depot. After completion of training at Personnel Administrative School at Camp Johnson in Jacksonville, N.C., he was stationed at Indian Head, Md. with the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force before receiving orders to Marine Barracks Washington, D.C. for assignment with “The President’s Own.”

As a stage crewman, Pfc. Abbott is responsible for setting up Marine Band and Marine Chamber Orchestra concerts and rehearsals in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and across the country during the band’s annual concert tour.
