Communication Strategist Staff Sergeant Isaac Mei of Morgantown, W.Va., joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in August 2023.

Staff Sgt. Mei began his musical training in piano at age 6 and percussion at age 11. He also began musical training in voice at age 12 and continued for 9 years. Upon graduating from Morgantown High School in 2010, he attended Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, W.Va., where he earned a bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in music in 2014. He performed with “The West Virginians,” Alderson Broaddus University’s premier touring vocal ensemble, from 2010-2014. In 2017, Staff Sgt. Mei completed his master’s degree in integrated marketing communications at West Virginia University.

Prior to joining “The President’s Own,” Staff Sgt. Mei was the Social Media Editor for Pew Research Center, where he managed social media strategy, digital marketing, and branding efforts for the organization.

As a communication strategist, Staff Sgt. Mei promotes Marine Band performances and educational resources by developing and producing content for social media and online use; coordinates publicity campaigns for performances, special events, and national concert tours; represents “The President's Own” at concerts and national conventions.
