Trumpet and Cornet Player Staff Sergeant Daniel Taubenheim of Lake Bluff, Ill., joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in June 2023.

Staff Sgt. Taubenheim began his musical instruction on trumpet at age 12. After graduating from Lake Forest High School in 2010 he earned bachelor’s degree in music from The Juilliard School in 2014. He then earned his master’s in music from Rice University in 2016. His teachers included Raymond Mase and Mark Gould at The Juilliard School and Barbara Butler and Charles Geyer at Rice University.

Prior to joining the Marine Band, Staff Sgt. Taubenheim performed as associate principal trumpet with the Phoenix Symphony and San Antonio Symphony and was an assistant professor of trumpet at St. Mary’s University.

Staff Sgt. Taubenheim performs with the Marine Band and Marine Chamber Orchestra at the White House, in the Washington, D.C., area, and across the country during the band’s annual concert tour.
