Supply Clerk Corporal William Cooks of Luverne, Ala., joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in April 2023.

Cpl. Cooks was a tenor saxophone player as a middle school student. In 2020 Cpl. Cooks graduated from Luverne High School and enlisted in the Marine Corps in September of that year. He attended recruit training at Parris Island Marine Corps Recruit Depot and continued his training at the Ground Supply School at Camp Johnson, N.C. His prior duty stations include Headquarters Marine Corps and Henderson Hall.

As a supply clerk, Cpl. Cooks assists in general supply operations, which includes warehousing, packaging, and purchasing for the Marine Band.
