Staff Sgt. Jakob Lenhardt

Clarinetist Staff Sergeant Jakob Lenhardt of Hamilton, N.J., joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in March 2023.

Staff Sgt. Lenhardt began his musical training on piano at age 5, saxophone at age 9 and clarinet at age 12. After graduating in 2011 from Steinert High School, he attended the College of New Jersey where he earned a bachelor’s degree in music education in 2015 and studied with Roger McKinney. In 2017 he completed a master’s degree in clarinet performance from the University of Michigan where he studied with Daniel Gilbert and Chad Burrow.

Prior to joining “The President’s Own,” Staff Sgt. Lenhardt completed a fellowship with the New World Symphony and performed with several ensembles including the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra Philadelphia, City Music Cleveland, Princeton Symphony Orchestra, Michigan Philharmonic, and other orchestras across Michigan. He has also performed at festivals including the Pacific Music Festival in Japan, Thy Chamber Music Festival in Denmark, National Repertory Project, and Tanglewood Music Festival.

Staff Sgt. Lenhardt performs with the Marine Band and Marine Chamber Orchestra at the White House, in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, and across the country during the band’s annual concert tour.
