Assistant Drum Major Gunnery Sergeant Tyler Limbrock, joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in January 2025.
Gunnery Sgt. Limbrock is a native of Pendleton, Indiana. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Delayed Entry Program in January of 2003 and completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California in July of 2003. Following recruit training, Gunnery Sergeant Limbrock attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, California and then reported to his primary Military Occupational Specialties School at the Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach, Virginia for the Basic Music Course. While there, he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal.
In June of 2004, Gunnery Sgt. Limbrock was assigned to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Band, Twentynine Palms, California where he served as a percussionist and as the unit's Supply Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC). In December of 2004, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal. In July of 2007 he was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps after 4 years of service and went to school to become a Certified Automotive Master Technician.
In March of 2011 Gunnery Sgt. Limbrock re-enlisted in the Marine Corps and was assigned to the 1st Marine Division Band, Camp Pendleton, California where he served as a percussionist and as the Admin Chief. In December of 2012, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
Gunnery Sgt. Limbrock was transferred to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band, Miramar, California in June of 2013 where he served as the Percussion Section Leader and Information Systems Coordinator. While there, hewas selected to become a Recruiter for the Marine Corps.
In January of 2015 Gunnery Sgt. Limbrock reported to Basic Recruiting School in San Diego, California. Upon Graduation Gunnery Sergeant Limbrock reported to Recruiting Station Louisville, Recruiting Sub Station Louisville North, Louisville, Kentucky where he served as a Canvassing Recruiter. While on Recruiting, Gunnery Sergeant Limbrock was Meritoriously Promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in July 2017.
After successfully completing a tour of recruiting, Gunnery Sgt. Limbrock Reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California in May 2018 where he served as the Percussion Section Leader and Platoon Sergeant. While stationed in San Diego, he quickly transitioned the band to manage the Depot’s Emergency Operations Center during the Covid-19 outbreak. As the Watch Chief, he facilitated and managed the logistical support and daily needs the Marines and Recruits Stationed at the Recruit Depot.
In 2021 Gunnery Sgt. Limbrock was selected to attend the Unit Leader Course at the Naval School of Music. Upon Graduation of the Naval School of Music in August of 2022, he reported to the 2nd Marine Division Band where he served as the Drum Major, Small Ensemble Leader and Operations Chief. In September of 2022 Gunnery Sgt. Limbrock was promoted to his current rank and in 2023 he was awarded the BMOS of 5521, Drum Major.
In July of 2023 he assumed the role as the Drum Major of the Marine Forces Reserve Band in New Orleans, LA. As MFR Band's Drum Major, Gunnery Sergeant Limbrock has led notable events such as 2024 Mardi Gras Parades, Houston Rodeo Parade and the Royal Edinburg Military Tattoo. In May of 2024, Gunnery Sgt. Limbrock successfully auditioned and was selected for the Assistant Drum Major of "The President's Own" United States Marine Band and reported to Marine Corps Barracks, Washington D.C. in January of 2025.
As Assistant Drum Major for “The President’s Own,” Gunnery Sgt. Limbrock leads the band in ceremonial commitments, and as the company gunnery sergeant he is responsible for unit and new member training.
