Information Systems Administrator Master Sergeant Jamie Schwendinger of Freeport, Ill., joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in December 2006 as a music librarian. She was appointed as the Information Systems Administrator in January 2014.

Master Sgt. Schwendinger began her musical instruction on flute at age 11. After graduating in 1995 from Freeport High School, she earned her bachelor’s degree in flute performance from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington in 1999. She earned her master’s degree in flute performance in 2002 from Illinois State University in Normal. Her instructors included William West of Illinois Wesleyan University, Kimberly McCoul-Risinger of Illinois State University, and Jody Brubaker.

Prior to joining “The President’s Own,” Master Sgt. Schwendinger was a graduate assistant in flute at Illinois State University, taught flute privately in Bloomington, Ill., and worked as a freelance musician and as a member of the Cantilena Duo, also in Bloomington. 

As the Information Systems Administrator, Master Sgt. Schwendinger organizes, installs, and supports the band’s computer systems, networks, software, and hardware.
