Gunnery Sgt. Tilden Olsen

Assistant Chief Librarian Gunnery Sergeant Tilden Olsen of Pittsburgh joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in December 2012. He was appointed to his current position in 2022.

Gunnery Sgt. Olsen began his musical training on trumpet at age 5. After he completed his high school studies in 2005, he attended the Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 2009 and master’s degree in 2011, both in trumpet performance. His instructor was George Vosburgh of the Pittsburgh Symphony.

Prior to joining “The President’s Own,” he was a substitute with the Pittsburgh Symphony and freelance musician in the Pittsburgh area.

As Marine Band Assistant Chief Librarian, Gunnery Sgt. Olsen prepares music for performances by the Marine Band and Marine Chamber Orchestra and assists with maintaining the music library and historic archives.
