Master Sgt. Ryan McGeorge

Euphonium Player Master Sergeant Ryan McGeorge of San Diego joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in May 2004.

Master Sgt. McGeorge began his musical instruction at age 8. Upon graduating in 1997 from Grossmont High School in El Cajon, Calif., he attended the University of North Texas in Denton where he studied under Brian Bowman earning a bachelor’s degree in music in 2004.

Prior to joining “The President’s Own,” Master Sgt. McGeorge was featured as an euphonium soloist from 2001-2002 in the Tony and Emmy Award-winning Broadway production Blast!. In 2003, he placed first in the Leonard Falcone International Tuba-Euphonium Festival (LFITEF) competition. He also was an active teacher and clinician in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, performing regularly with the Dallas Wind Symphony.

Master Sgt. McGeorge performs with the Marine Band and Marine Chamber Orchestra at the White House, in the Washington, D.C., area, and across the country during the band’s annual concert tour. As a euphonium soloist he has played Philip Spark’s Pantomime and Fantasy, Simone Mantia’s Fantasie Originale, and Jean Baptiste-Arban’s “Carnival of Venice.” In 2005, 2007, and 2012 he performed as a member of the Marine Tuba-Euphonium Quartet at the U.S. Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Conference. In 2007 the members of the quartet were guest artists at the LFITEF and featured at the International Tuba-Euphonium Conference in 2008 and 2010. He was also a featured soloist with the Army Blues Jazz Ensemble in 2010. In addition, Master Sgt. McGeorge plays valve trombone and jazz euphonium with several Marine jazz ensembles including the Latin jazz ensemble, big band, and Dixieland band. He has also performed with a Marine jazz combo at the 2012 Juneau Jazz Classics Festival in Alaska.
