Master Sgt. Timothy Dugan

Trombonist Master Sergeant Timothy Dugan of Ocean City, N.J., joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in August 2003. He was named assistant principal in February 2017.

Master Sgt. Dugan began his musical training at age 9. Upon graduating in 1996 from Ocean City High School, he attended The College of New Jersey in Ewing where he earned a bachelor’s degree in music education in 2000. In 2002, he earned a master’s degree in music performance from Indiana University in Bloomington. His trombone instructors included Donald Harwood from The College of New Jersey, and M. Dee Stewart and Peter Ellefson from Indiana University.

Master Sgt. Dugan performs with the Marine Band and Marine Chamber Orchestra at the White House, in the Washington, D.C., area, and across the country during the band’s annual concert tour.
