Master Sgt. David Jenkins

Saxophonist Master Sergeant David Jenkins of Williamstown, Mass., joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in November 2004.

Master Sgt. Jenkins began his musical training at age 4. Upon graduating in 1990 from Mount Greylock Regional High School in Williamstown, he attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (UMass) where he earned bachelor’s degrees in music education and saxophone performance in 1996. In 2001, he earned a master’s of music in performance from Arizona State University (ASU) in Tempe. His notable saxophone instructors include Lynn Klock of UMass, Joseph Wytko of ASU, and Eugene Rousseau of the University of Minnesota.

Prior to joining “The President’s Own,” Master Sgt. Jenkins performed with the Amherst Saxophone Quartet in Amherst, N.Y., and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra in Minnesota.

Master Sgt. Jenkins performs with the Marine Band at the White House, in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, and across the country during the band’s annual concert tour. In addition, he performs frequently with the Marine Band’s saxophone quartet which performed William Bolcom’s Concerto Grosso for Four Saxophones and Band with the Marine Band in 2016. He traveled to the Seattle area in May 2015 to perform as a featured soloist with the Shoreline Concert Band. In addition to his musical duties, Master Sgt. Jenkins has served as a Tour Coordinator since 2015, advancing and serving as on-site manager during the band’s annual concert tour.
