Marine Band Concert: Feb. 2, 2020 - Sunday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. - The Marine Band starts off February with a concert packed with traditional works accessible to all audiences. The heart of the concert lies with Percy Grainger’s Lincolnshire Posy and Gustav Holst’s Suite No. 1 in E-flat, Opus 28, No. 1, but the program also features the stunning work of other beloved composers such as Sousa, Dvořák, Pryor, Mozart and Glazunov. Arrive early for a pre-concert performance by a gypsy jazz ensemble. The concert, which takes place at Northern Virginia Community College's Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center, is free and open to the public.
Chamber Music Series: Jan. 26 - Sunday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. - Musicians from "The President's Own" will perform a chamber concert featuring various ensembles. The concert is free and open to the public.
Marine Chamber Orchestra Concert: Jan. 19, 2020 - 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 19 - The Marine Chamber Orchestra will perform the concert titled “The Seasons,” featuring works by Sergei Prokofiev, Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and William Alwyn. Conducted by Assistant Director Capt. Bryan P. Sherlock, the concert will take place at Northern Virginia Community College’s Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center in Alexandra, Va. The performance is free and open to the public; no tickets are required.
Sousa Season Opener: Jan. 12 - Sunday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. - This year's Sousa Season Opener celebrates Sousa the American operetta composer, and the program highlights instrumental selections, songs, and marches from five of his most enduring works in the genre. The concert, which is free with no tickets required, will take place at George Mason University's Center for the Arts Concert Hall in Fairfax, Va.
