Marine Band Concert July 27 - Tuesday, July 27 at 7:30 p.m. - The Marine Band returns to San Antonio with a special performance at 7:30 p.m., Friday, July 27, in the Lila Cockrell Theatre as part of the Texas Bandmasters Association 71st Annual Convention. The program will begin with John Philip Sousa’s march, “Sabre and Spurs,” followed by the world première of Peter Boyer’s Fanfare, Hymn, and Finale and Dr. Frank Ticheli guest conducting his own Clarinet Concerto. The concert will also include Percy Grainger’s Lincolnshire Posy and works by Jonathan Leshnoff, Leonard Bernstein, John Williams, and Miklós Rózsa. In addition, members of the Marine Band will perform a chamber recital at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 28, in the convention center’s room 214CD featuring several small ensembles. Both concerts are free, open to the public, and no tickets are required and take place in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

Marine Chamber Orchestra Concert July 21 - Saturday, July 21 at 7:30 p.m. - The Marine Chamber Orchestra will perform a unique concert featuring only the collaboration of the string players and no conductor, beginning with guest soloist Nicholas Kitchen on Johann Sebastian Bach’s Violin Concerto No. 2 in E, BWV 1042. The program will also include Bach’s Prelude and Fugue No. 4 in C-sharp minor, BWV 849, and his Concerto in D minor for Two Violins, BWV 1043. The concert will conclude with a string orchestra arrangement of Ludwig van Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 9 in C, Opus 59, No. 3. Kitchen will offer a pre-concert chat from 6:45–7:15 p.m. in the lobby. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will take place in Northern Virginia Community College's Schlesinger Concert Hall in Alexandria, Va.

Marine Band Anniversary Concert July 10 - Tuesday, July 10 at 7:30 p.m. - Guest conductor, composer, and pianist Bramwell Tovey joins the Marine Band for a special 220th Anniversary Gala Concert performing works by iconic American and British composers including Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, Sir Edward Elgar, William Walton, and featuring George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, performed by Tovey himself. Tovey is the music director of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and has made recent guest appearances with the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics and the Cleveland and Philadelphia Orchestras. Come celebrate more than two centuries of Marine Band history in this special performance! The concert is free, but tickets are recommended. For free tickets, visit www.strathmore.org. The concert will take place at The Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Md.
