Fall Chamber Music Series: Sunday, Oct. 28 - Sunday, Oct. 28 at 2 pm: Coordinated by clarinetist Gunnery Sgt. Harry Ong, this performance features a mix of works by modern composers as well as a piece by Romantic composer Johannes Brahms. The program will include several different ensembles, from percussion duo to string quartet and brass quintet, to a tango ensemble and clarinet, cello, and piano trio. The concert is free and will take place in John Philip Sousa Band Hall at the Marine Barracks Annex in southeast Washington, D.C.
Fall Chamber Music Series: Sunday, Oct. 21 - Sunday, Oct. 21 at 2 pm: Coordinated by clarinetist Staff Sgt. Lucia Disano, this performance features a program of all female composers, many of whom are still living, with works all composed during the last 100 years. The concert will include various ensembles from flute, oboe, and piano trio to solo violin, solo percussion, and a trumpet trio, as well as clarinet and viola duo and string quartet. The concert is free and will take place in John Philip Sousa Band Hall at the Marine Barracks Annex in southeast Washington, D.C.
Fall Chamber Music Series: Sunday, Oct. 14 - Sunday, Oct. 14 at 2 pm: Coordinated by saxophonist Gunnery Sgt. David Jenkins, this program features works from 1938 through 2013 which all evoke strong imagery. From the playful character sketches found in the works of Paul Bowles and William Albright, to the spacious, old cathedral of Peteris Vasks and the Asian-inspired minimalism of Steve Reich, each piece rewards the imaginative listeners by creating a unique and fully-realized world of its own. The concert is free and will take place in John Philip Sousa Band Hall at the Marine Barracks Annex in southeast Washington, D.C.
Fall Chamber Music Series: Sunday, Oct. 7 - Sunday, Oct. 7 at 2 pm: Coordinated by percussionist Master Sgt. Glenn Paulson, this chamber program features two new works for percussion by Marine Band percussionists: the world première of Gunnery Sgt. Jonathan Bisesi’s Go and Paulson’s Guaguanco. The program will also include various other ensembles including solo violin, string quartet, and small ensembles of mixed instruments. The concert is free and will take place in John Philip Sousa Band Hall at the Marine Barracks Annex in southeast Washington, D.C.
