Description: The Marine Band’s Summer Concert Series continues on Aug. 13 with exciting music that’s fun for the whole family. Featuring works by John Mackey, Kevin Day, Florence Price and Carolyn Bremer, the Marine Band will perform at the U.S. Capitol West Steps. The concert will also feature Staff Sgt. Hannah Davis, soprano, singing the Modern Songbook Medley, arranged by Gunnery Sgt. Scott Ninmer.

Karen Johnson, hear the Marine Chamber Orchestra’s delightful summer concert featuring Felix Mendelssohn’s String Symphony No. 10 in B minor and Benjamin Britten’s Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge. The concert will also feature Staff Sgt. Taylor Fleshman, harp, on William Grant Still’s beautiful and reflective work Ennanga for Harp, String Orchestra, and Piano.

Location: Marine Barracks Washington, 8th & I Streets SE, Washington, DC 20390

Description: Since 1957, Marine Barracks Washington, the "Oldest Post of the Corps," has held Friday Evening Parades to publicly showcase the pride, professionalism and esprit de corps of Marines worldwide. At these ceremonial dress parades, guests witness the finest display of military precision and excellence, including musical performances by "The President's Own" United States Marine Band and "The Commandant's Own" United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, and impressively choreographed rifle drill executed by the United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon. Following the ceremony, guests have the opportunity to meet Marines involved in the parade, as well as take photos with the Marine Barracks bulldog mascot, Chesty XVI.
