Sunday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. (EDT) - Coordinated by pianist Gunnery Sgt. AnnaMaria Mottola, this unique program will highlight jazz performed at the White House by the musicians of “The President’s Own,” complete with photos and narration. The first half of the concert will focus on the music of legendary jazz icon Duke Ellington and the music performed by the Marine Band Jazz Ensemble at the Medal of Freedom ceremony honoring Ellington at the White House in 1969. The concert’s second half will feature jazz frequently played at the White House, as well as tunes honoring such iconic musicians as Sting and Stevie Wonder. The concert, which is free, will take place at John Philip Sousa Band Hall at the Marine Barracks Annex, located at 7th & K Streets, SE, Washington, DC. Free parking is available.
