May 20, 2014 -- This Memorial Day weekend, enjoy a thrilling fireworks display and an entertaining evening of fun and patriotic music by the Marine Band at 8 p.m., Sunday, May 25 at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts’ Filene Center in Vienna, Va. The concert is free and no tickets are required.
The concert will include marches by John Philip Sousa, Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture transcribed by Master Sgt. Donald Patterson, George W. Warren’s “God of Our Fathers,” and a salute to members of the armed forces.
The program will also highlight the talented soloists within the Marine Band. Baritone vocalist Master Sgt. Kevin Bennear and mezzo-soprano Gunnery Sgt. Sara Dell’Omo will perform a suite from The Music Man which features songs by the lead characters, Harold Hill and Marian Paroo, as well as a barbershop quartet, who in the original musical are four members of the school board. Pianist Gunnery Sgt. AnnaMaria Motolla will perform the jazz standard “I Got Rhythm” by George Gershwin, which was arranged Staff Arranger Staff Sgt. Ryan Nowlin. Ron Nelson’s Rocky Point Holiday will put the audience in a summer mood and John Mackey’s spirited Asphalt Cocktail will round out the program.

Gates open at 6:30 p.m. (90 minutes prior to curtain) and the park will close at capacity. Fireworks begin at approximately 9:45 p.m. The Filene Center is located at 1551 Trap Road in Vienna.
