It doesn’t take four saxophones to demonstrate how versatile the instrument is, but a saxophone quartet from the Marine Band can only reinforce the idea. This program shows off the instrument’s lyrical and technical capabilities with classical compositions written before the saxophone was even created, an exciting ragtime era selection as well as music from George Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess.
