Gunnery Sgt. Rachel Perry

Saxophone player Gunnery Sergeant Rachel Perry of Otselic, N.Y., joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in May 2014.

Gunnery Sgt. Perry began her musical training on flute at age 9 and saxophone at age 13. After graduating in 2007 from Otselic Valley Central School, she attended Ithaca College in New York where she earned a bachelor’s degree in music education and performance in 2011 and studied with Steve Mauk. In 2013 she completed a master’s degree in music performance from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester in New York where she studied with Chien-Kwan Lin.

Prior to joining “The President’s Own,” Gunnery Sgt. Perry performed as a soloist with The U.S. Army Band of Washington, D.C., and the Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra.

Gunnery Sgt. Perry performs with the Marine Band at the White House, in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, and across the country during the band’s annual concert tour.
