Clarinet player Gunnery Sergeant Andrew Jacobi of Greenville, S.C., joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in May 2016.
Gunnery Sgt. Jacobi began his musical training on clarinet at age 11. After graduating in 2008 from the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville, he attended Northwestern University in Evanston where he earned a bachelor’s degree in clarinet performance in 2012 and studied with Steven Cohen. In 2014 he earned a master’s degree in clarinet performance from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles where he studied with Yehuda Gilad.
Prior to joining “The President’s Own,” Staff Sgt. Jacobi taught privately in Los Angeles.
Gunnery Sgt. Jacobi performs with the Marine Band and Marine Chamber Orchestra at the White House, in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, and across the country during the band’s annual concert tour.
